The Hunt
All bow hunting is done out of pre-hung commercial tree stands* that are located over food plots, travel corridors, and near bedding areas.
Morning hunts will generally be in wooded areas away from feeding areas to intercept deer traveling from feeding to bedding areas.
Afternoon hunts will generally be near or over feeding areas.
Hunters are placed in tree stands prior to sunrise and are generally picked up from tree stands mid to late morning.
Drop off for the afternoon hunt is early to mid afternoon and pick up after dark.
The length of the daily hunt can be altered to the hunter or group of hunters.
All day hunts are an option at the request of the hunter and can be quite productive at certain times of the year.
* Upon request hunters with handicaps or limitations will be allowed to hunt from ground level with prior notice.
Harvest Plan
Buck harvest is limited to a minimum of 125 inch bucks.
Deer of this caliber will be on display in the lodge for those who may not be familiar with the measurement of a whitetail buck.
Our rule of thumb is if you are not sure don't shoot!
Deer of this size and much larger are plentiful on our properties and are a reasonable expectation.
Remember the small ones will soon grow to trophy size if you let them.
Doe harvest is very important in order to maintain the balance of the herd.
A hunter on a paid hunt that harvests a doe first will be eligible to be entered in a drawing for a FREE rut hunt the following year.
Regulations and Guidelines
To ensure the best quality hunt for you as well as the hunters after you, we have established some important restrictions and guidelines about the hunt.
Hunters must remain at the tree stand after drop off until the scheduled pick up time.
(Two-way radio and/or cell phones will be provided for emergency pick ups.)
All stand sites have been pre-scouted and disturbance around stands must be limited to drop off and pick up with a guide only.
Safety harnesses, which will be provided, are required at all times while climbing and hunting out of tree stands.
After a deer has been shot no retrieval can be made until the arrival of a guide.
Four-wheeler use is restricted to guides only.
Required and Suggested Gear
Required
(Every hunter will be required to shoot before the hunt begins to ensure all weapons are in order.)
(If you do not own your own one will be provided.)
(Great care must be taken by both guides and hunters to not contaminate hunting areas with foreign scent.
Use of these boots is the best way to ensure stands stay fresh for every hunter for the season.)
(Illinois law requires that all weapons, including bows, be transported in a carrying case in or on any motor vehicle.
This includes ATV transportation to and from the tree stands.)
**We reccommend hard cases as soft cases will not sustain the equipment from being damaged on ATV travel.
Suggested
(We do not reccommend the use of insect repellants of any kind.
However some precautions must be taken, especially in the early season hunts,
with the use of face nets and gloves.)
